Data and verification

Public data, checked and dated

Pipeluma builds its own index from public sources and checks every contact before you pay for it. Every claim on a lead shows where it came from and when it was seen.

Sources

Where the data comes from

Registers tell us a company exists. Job boards and websites tell us what it is doing now. Together they answer the question that matters: is this company a fit today?

Companies HouseUnited Kingdom

Registered companies with their status, address and activity code.

INSEE · SireneFrance

The official register of French companies, with size band and activity.

Y Combinator directoryWorldwide

Funded startups with their batch, team size and whether they are hiring.

Greenhouse, Lever, AshbyWorldwide

Public job boards: the roles a company is hiring for right now, with dates.

ArbeitnowGermany

Employers advertising roles in Germany today, used as a fresh hiring signal.

Company websitesWorldwide

Homepage, team and about pages, careers pages and the legally required Impressum.

What we never do

The fastest way to a big database is to copy one. We chose the slower way, because a lead you cannot check is not worth a credit.

  • ✓No scraped LinkedIn or other social profiles
  • ✓No resold or bought contact databases
  • ✓No private or personal email addresses, only work addresses
  • ✓No invented data: if we cannot find it, the field stays empty
Verification

Five checks on every contact

An address is only worth something if it reaches a person. Each check answers one question, and the label says honestly how far we got.

01

Company website

Is the domain live and does it belong to this company?

02

Mail server

Does the domain receive email at all?

03

Person confirmed

Is the person named on a register, a startup directory or the company's own pages?

04

Email pattern

Which format does this company use: first.last, first, f.last?

05

Mailbox probe

Does the mail server accept this exact address, without sending anything?

VerifiedThe person is confirmed and the mail server accepted this exact address, or the company publishes it.1 credit
LikelyThe person is confirmed and the address follows the company's pattern, on a server that accepts every address.1 credit
UnverifiedThe address could not be checked either way. Sending to it is off unless you allow it.Free
InvalidThe mail server said the address does not exist, or an email to it bounced.Free or refunded

Some mail servers accept every address, so a probe cannot tell a real mailbox from a wrong one. Pipeluma says so and labels the contact Likely instead of pretending it is Verified. The first human reply upgrades it to Verified.

Freshness

Old news does not count as a signal

A funding round from 2021 says little about today. Every signal carries the date it was seen, and the score weighs recent evidence far more than old evidence.

Every lead also shows when it was last checked, and you can check it again at any time.
